Activities at Lake Logan State Park

Fishing

Fishing is one of the most popular activities at Lake Logan State Park, due to the scenic location and the wide variety of fish available. The State Park is regularly stocked by the Division of Wildlife, ensuring that quality fish are always available.

The types of fish found at Lake Logan State Park include:

  • Largemouth bass
  • Bluegill
  • Crappie
  • Catfish
  • Saugeye
  • Northern pike

Be sure to obtain an
Ohio fishing license before arriving at Lake Logan to help ensure that your fishing trip goes smoothly.

If you need extra fishing supplies,
stop by Downs Bait and Guns, a local sporting goods store that carries the well-earned reputation of helping guests find solutions to their fishing, hunting, or archery-related problems.

Boating, Kayaking, and Swimming

You don’t have to be fishing to enjoy a day out on Lake Logan.

Boating and Sailboating are a popular option for Lake Logan visitors. Boats with motors up to 10 horsepower are allowed but are restricted to a speed limit of 10 mph. Guests can use one of four launch ramps and tie up locations near picnic areas around the lake.

Kayaking is becoming a more popular option as it provides a more budget friendly option to take advantage of the water and explore the lake while giving you more exercise. They also make for a great way to enjoy fishing out on the lake. Hilltop Resorts offers a kayak rental service to all guests.

For those wanting to dive into Lake Logan, there is a dedicated 527-foot swimming beach on the north shore that is open to the public. Visitors will also find restrooms, change booths, and a concession area.

Hiking

There are two major trails at Lake Logan State Park.

The first is a section of the
Buckeye Trail that runs by the Northwestern side of the lake. At about 2 miles, it generally is considered an easier trail by most hikers. Not many people hike this trail, so you’re more likely to experience privacy along this path. Some hikers have reported poison ivy along the path, so exercise caution by wearing long pants and sleeves.

Learn more about this trail at AllTrails.

Visitors can also opt for the Pine Vista Hiking Trail, located across Lake Logan Road from the Beach. This one-mile trail circles around a hilltop, making it ideal for nature study and observing the local wildlife. Birdwatchers will especially enjoy this trail as it will give opportunities to spot the various songbirds and raptors that call Lake Logan home.
